Housing Rehabilitation Program

 
Eligible Applicants:

 

To be eligible, you must live in Johnson County (not within city limits of Iowa City), own your own home, and meet certain income requirements. 

 

Eligible Activities: Eligible activities include most necessary home repairs. Emergency repairs, exterior repairs and residential accessibility are eligible activities. Some examples of projects include roofing repairs and window replacements.

 

Program Description:

 

Hills Bank and Trust Company partnered with East Central Iowa Council of Governments and the Housing Trust Fund of Johnson County to assist the County in securing grant funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. The FHLB Housing Rehabilitation program is offering a grant of approximately $15,000 to eligible homeowners to make necessary home repairs. Assistance is provided in the form of a five-year forgivable loan that recedes at a rate of 20 percent per year.

 

*Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis.
